Technology that Ensures Safety in Driving
Some high-end cars have a recent addition of features that are designed to alert distracted drivers or wake up sleepy drivers. The system is aptly named AutoVue Lane Departure Warning system that warns the driver through an alarm if the vehicle drifts out of its lane. It has a camera and an on board computer attached to the windshield or overheard or dash board.
This has been available in the commercial trucks used in the United States of America since the year 2000. Now it is made available on the FX SUV and Infiniti M sedan.
The 2008 Lexus LS 600h L has another system for safety named Advanced Pre-collision System. It consists of two cameras mounted on the car's front part. It also has millimeter wave radar that can detect pedestrians on the road. It also has a third camera inside the car attached to the steering column. This camera monitors the driver and if the driver is sot paying attention to the road while there is an obstacle in the path, the system makes an alarm and flashes a warning light. The system also prepares the brakes to apply extra force if the brakes are engaged. IT also adjusts the steering response and tightens the seat belts to prepare for a collision.
But an important concern in this excellent measure is that this might put drivers into a false sense of safety and make them drive with a little more ease and thus carelessness.
