Every one loves long drives, especially with friends. But the biggest threat of long drives is the drowsiness that goes along with exhausting long journey. Often a sleepy driver causes the biggest accidents in road history.
It is said that drowsy drivers are more dangerous than drunken drivers as they do not realize that they are impended. Sleep deprived drivers can doze off in a flash causing accidents that can be enormous. Often such accidents are more prevalent in good wide roads. When the roads are wide and the traffic sparse, especially in the night hours, the excellent condition of the driving gives a feeling of fake security to the already drowsy driver and cause him to doze off. It is said that most accidents happen ion the time between midnight and 4 O' clock in the morning. Our brains are pre-conditioned to rest in these hours and this tiredness causes the drivers to doze off and end up in fatal car crashes. If you find that you are yawning uncontrollably or you feel irritable, it indicates that you are sleepy. A sleep-deprived person will find that his mind wanders with vague thoughts. If you feel that you do not remember driving the previous few kilo meters, it is time to stop and take a refreshing quick nap. If you find that a driver before your vehicle is weaving or missing traffic signals inform police or try to alert the driver using horns, he might be dozing off due to lack of sleep. |
