Default Cherrapunji Wettest place on earth

Cherrapunji is one of the best place to enjoy holidays in open arms of nature. It's known as wettest place on earth which is about 60Kms away from Shillong.

Facts:
State & Country: Meghalaya, India.
Location: East Khasi Hills
Population: 10,000 approx.
Languages: English, Hindi & Khasi
Temprature: Summers 14°C -22°C & Winters 6°C-16°C
Rainfall: Heavy (average rainfall 11,430)

Here are some pics from my last visit to Cherrapunji

Fields on the way to Cherrapunji

Same fields and its time to rain again

Leaving Shillong city behind

God these clouds are full of water and can bust anytime

Valleys on the way to Cherrapunji

The same valley with different angle

No, This is not giant broccoli, this is what I call forest

Nobody dares to go there and you know why lol

Valley view from roadside

Waterfall on the way to Cherrapunji, if you will give bit more stress to your eyes then you will find water is coming out of all the rocks

Just a closer look from different angle

This is the fall for which i drove all the way, the green waterfall

Clouds are on the top again, can you figure out the clouds anywhere

Cherrapunji is another place from where one can make illegal entry to India or even to Bangladesh too

Hi rashare

Mate I think you are talking about Mawsynram which is about 16kms away from Cherrapunji. These two get maximum rainfall and I am not aware of any other place in assam which gets that much, both the places (Cherrapunji & Mawsynram) are in Meghalaya.

Check the average rainfall chart to compare
Quote:
Year ........... Cherrapunji ........... Mawsynram
2002 ........... 12,262 ................ 11,300
2001 ........... 9,071 .................. 10,765
2000 ........... 11,221 ................ 13,561
1999 ........... 12,503 ................ 13,444
1998 ........... 14,536 ................ 16,092

*all data is in (mm)
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mawsynram
I understand data is old and will try to search more on this topic tonight.
Will update as soon as if find something new and request you too to look for same

ohooo
I really don't remember the name, I don't have my books to refer back to, I will just try to get a contact with my skool buddies if they can remember the name.
I still remember my geo teacher saying Cherra was laid back by some other place, its also in same state, I thought it was Assam, now as u say its Meghalaya, then ok for me so in Meghalaya
The info which I am talking about is around more than 10yrs old data, I don't know if cherra got back to 1st.
