Marriage is a lifetime commitment whereas a live-in relationship is an arangement by choice .We are not westerners and live-in relationship will eventually lead to a lot of mental turmoil, No one can guarantee such relations. I do not know why we want to change our culture and traditions and imitate westerners.

as long as the two individuals agree on one thing (marriage or live-in )... i guess it's ok..

marriage can still get separated in a case to case basis.. same with live-in relationship...

what is important is both individual has the three ingredients... love, commitment and trust

that is more than a piece of paper (contract) signed by a priest or approved by a government officials for you to be one...

I agree, live in relationship is not bad as far as you two love each other and the faith exists in the relationship. Marriage is a contract which should not be broken but still there are people in our society who break it and look for other options. I think there is no huge difference between live-in relationship and marriage.

Wearing jeans and tops, skirts/mini skirts, long boots, girls with fancy haircuts is also not in our culture. Which culture are you talking about.

Who says that live-in relationship is against the law, it is just not accepted by elders but otherwise new generation is already trying to welcome this change in India.

Thumbs up

wearing jeans top, coloured hair,is a different thing and you cannot compare it with Live in relationship or marriage.we all are social animals and still our society and law is against it.culture means our basic ground where we put up,our family values. If it goes well it has to end up with marriage right? so you can not compare it with marriage or something else.

Welcoming new things or trying new things is never taken as bad choice, but there should be a limit line to all the actions.why people welcoming such culture which is not ours.why can't we welcome other things ,which makes our country proud and our elders too.

adapting new cultures isnt bad...as long as we're comfortable on it...

if it doesnt give u comfort then do not adapt...
it depends on the person

society is composed of individuals... so if society is seen to be into the new culture...it means many individuals are comfortable with it...

thus the society is not forcing one individual to accept the new culture :-)

yes I agree with this completely, no one is forced to adapt to cultural changes its upto each one. Its upto each couple to decide what they want to do with their relationship.
