In China and Japan, the use of Green tea has a very long history of about 4000 years. . The scientific name of the plant from the leaves of which Green tea is made is Camellia sinensis. Green is very good for overall health. The medicinal properties of green tea are attributed to polyphenols, which act as antioxidants. Antioxidants help prevent damage caused by free radicals in the body. Free radicals are naturally occurring, but these numbers are growing due to environmental conditions such as pollution, ultraviolet light, cigarette smoke.
