Default Better Smile with a Little Care

Malformation in teeth structure can be prevented with better care for teeth from a young age. Braces can be avoided if necessary care is provided from childhood.

Certain bad habits can result in malformation of teeth structure and prevention of this will ensure a beautiful smile without braces. These habits must be broken in childhood itself before they affect the proper formation of teeth structure.

Thumb sucking is a habit that should not be continued after the age of 6. This can cause problems with the structure of gums and result in bad teeth structure in later years of life. Make sure that kids overcome this bad habit as it can have a huge effect on the teeth structure.

The same applies for the habits of lip biting and nail biting. Nail biting can not only make your teeth bad but also causes ill health through ingestion of dirt from nails.

Another habit that is devastating to the teeth structure is the habit of breathing through the mouth. This may push the teeth forward. To break this habit, ensure that there are no other complexities which prevent nose breathing or makes breathing through nose hard.

Sometimes, children push at their teeth and gums with their tongue unintentionally, this is called tongue thrusting. This will result in the teeth being pushed forward and affect the structure of the teeth. A dentist will prescribe an instrument which helps to break this bad habit, which should be paced in the patient's mouth.
