After a sale i made and the products delivered to the client, it is the role of the customer support Engineer to install and commission the equipment. New hardware is often likely to incorporate a new set of systems software which will require exhaustive checking to ensure that it fully meets the specifications asked for. For this reason, Installation Engineers normally need to understand the basics of software.They should be self-reliant, practical minded, trouble shooters by nature and probably have a technical or scientific background such as a diploma in computer hardware.
Maintenance engineering is a less demanding role. Again, a technical background is necessary. Much of the work involves routine testing, diagnosis of faults and relatively straight forward replacement pf faulty components. Some understanding of software as well as hardware is required since complex software can often develop operating faults.
